ShiaSpouse Matchmaking Event
Event Date: Sunday 9th June 2024
Event Time: 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM (Registration from 9:30AM to 10:00AM). Online registration is mandatory to attend.

Important Note: It is your responsibility to make sure you take reasonable steps to find out the identity of the other party before proceeding further, including finding references to know about the character, nationality or other details of a match you are interested in. We do not personally know every person who is attending our events. We do not take any responsibility of the information they have provided or of a successful marriage as a result of attending this event. We are only facilitating the contact between potential matches. The decision is yours!
Q1. Is there parking available on site?
A: There is limited on-site parking. Please plan your journey allowing sufficient time to park nearby and arrive in time.
Q2. Can I bring my family members to the event?
A: Yes, you can. There is additional fee of £15 per family member. Maximum two members (adults only) are allowed.
Q3. Would my family members be able to talk to potential matches?
A: Family members will be seated separately. They may speak to other family members or the individual during the second half of the event provided both parties are willing to pursue further.
Q4. Are children allowed in the event?
A: No, event is for adults only.
Q5. Do I need to wear hijab for the event?
A: As the event is in a religious place, please dress modestly. Hair covering of your choice is mandatory for females.
Q6. Are photos or videos allowed during the event?
A: No, photos and videos of the event or participants are strictly prohibited including those are volunteering.
Q7. What is range of age groups:
A: We are inviting people (male and female) in the age range of 22 to 45 years for female and 22 to 45 for male.
Note: We may adjust the age range depending upon number of registrations.
Q8. Would I be able to speak to other parties within same age group?
A: We are planning different activities to allow conversation between the parties within all age group.
Q9. Would I be able to speak to other parties outside my age group?
A: Yes, we may allow conversation to people outside the age group provided the other party is willing too.
Q10. Can we share contact numbers with other parties during the event?
A: We do not suggest sharing contact numbers with other parties for your safety and confidentiality. You can communicate to the other parties through ShiaSpouse.org website after the event. However, during the one to one afternoon session, you can exchange contact details if you so wish provided the other party is agreeable to this. We strongly recommend that females give their parents or elder relative’s contact details.
Q11. How can I contact potential matches after the event?
A: You can communicate to the potential matches through ShiaSpouse website chat. We do not share your email or contact with others through our website. If you have exchanged contact details to explore the possibility further, then you can also communicate on mutual consent. However, if contacts details are no longer required, please do not pass them on to anyone else. You will share your contact details on your own will and responsibility. We recommend to communicate through our website chat.
Q12. How would I be able to find someone after the event?
A: All the attendees would have ShiaSpouse profile created on www.ShiaSpouse.org. Please take a note of their profile ID or profile name and you can search them on our website.
Q13. I have registered for the event but I can’t attend. Would I be able to get a refund?
A: Yes, we can offer refund if you contact us at least 7 days before the event. Refund may not be given if you contact us within 7 days before the event.
Q14. Would I be refunded if I could not join the event due to my personal reasons?
A: No, the registration fee is paid towards costs we incur including hall hiring, food and other admin expenses. If you do not join the event or arrive on time, registration fee will not be refunded.
Q15. How would I find someone during the event within my age group?
A: There will be icebreaking activities and group discussions. You may see other's profile through the badge or profiles displayed during the event. Our volunteers will assist you throughout the event.
Q16. What if someone has provided false information for the event registration?
A: We strictly do not allow any false information provided at the time of ShiaSpouse profile registration or event registration. If any one purposely provided any wrong information, he may not be allowed entry to the event or removed from the event. It is your responsibility to verify identity and details if your would like to proceed with the other party after the event.
Q17. Do you carry out identity check of the participants who are attending the event?
A: No, we do not perform identity check at the time of registration. However, anyone who would have registered for the event would need to provide their contact, bank details etc. and we may be able to track their identity. Our star rating of profiles is an indication of level of completeness and verification of ShiaSpouse members. We do not take responsibility of validity of any information provided by the attendees.
Q18. What if someone is not responding to me after the event?
A: We can’t guarantee that any potential matches you identify would correspond to you during or after the event. The other party may not respond for several reasons e.g. they are interested or in talk with someone else.
Q19. Would I be able to spend more time with someone I like during the event?
A: In order to keep the flow of activities, we will give only certain amount of time to speak to others. If both the parties are interested, they will be able to communicate to each other directly after the event.
Q20. Is there any assurance that I would be able to find a good life partner during this event?
A: No, we do not give such assurance or guarantees. We are only facilitating contact between the two parties.
Q21. Can I attend this event on behalf of someone else?
A: No. Family members will be allowed only if they are accompanying a candidate of marriage and they have registered at the same time. Family members will not be able to interact with candidates during the event. They may participate in second half of the event when one to one meeting takes place.
Q22. What if someone is not behaving appropriately in the event?
A: We conduct these events in a respectful and confidential manner. There will be respected ulama and volunteers present throughout the event. The venue has it owns security monitoring system in place. If someone is not behaving appropriately, please inform volunteers / facilitators.
Q23. Can divorcees and widowed also attend this event?
A: Yes, they are allowed to register and attend the event.
Q24. What type of food will be served at the event?
A: There will be variety of food available. If you have any special dietary needs, please email us when registering so that we can take a note of it.
Q25. I am from other city/town, can I still register for the event?
A: Yes, as long as you are able to attend the event you can register for it. The event is only for UK residents.
Q26. I am not able to register for the event. What can I do.
We have limited slots for the event. As soon as number of male and female is reached to the maximum allowed, registration will be stopped. You can email any queries to [email protected]. Note that we will stop registration about 1 week before the event.
Q27. I have not registered for the event, can I still come to the event?
No, you will be allowed to the event only if you have registered in advance.
